The Good Dogs Always Wear White

Our Ski Dazzle Snow Dog mascot greets you at the Show entrance each year. This friendly and remarkable purebred White German Shepherd, names "Shasta" carries a "badge" and is looking to rescure skiers and snowboarders in distress.

In her job, Shasta learns to ride the chairlifts and can be air-lifted to remote areas by helicopter to search for lost hikers, snowboarders and skiers. But most of the time, Shasta enjoys being a safety ambassador at California winter resorts, playing with kids and adults during Ski School breaks, or as an official member of the Ski Patrol, joyriding in helicopters and snowcats.

Rick Strasser, is Shasta’s owner and trainer, and has been a member of various emergency and rescue services for over twenty years. Strasser, has been instrumental in the safe rescue of hundreds of careless or unlucky lost children… and adults.
